Coastal Community Church Dives Right Into OSM
What a better way to keep the cash in the donation basket for your congregation then to ditch Bin-oogle and go with an open source map. Coastal Community Church did just that and went with a map powered by Leaflet and OpenStreetMap data for their website.
Benefits go beyond just cost savings. There is also the ability to edit the map, so when Martha the 90 year old saint comes to you and says, "Hey, this here road name is just wrong and someone is going to hell for it!" all you have to do is show her the light and make the map edit. If your church is not represented in Bin-oogle all you need to do is fire up the editor and add it. It is just that simple.
It warms my heart to see many sites using OSM as their base map these days and I am sure that the trend will continue.
Check it out at: Coastal Community Church
If you are looking to go to Heaven you just might want to make a map edit. You had better do it soon because you never know when you might be hit by a bus!
